Amyloidosis of Lower Genitourinary Tract: A Review
نویسندگان
چکیده
Amyloidosis is a pathological process characterized by extracellular deposition of proteinaceous substance. This is an endpoint for a variety of disease processes and can be generalised or localised. Amyloidosis of the lower urinary tract is unusual and has varied presentation. It is noted more commonly than expected and may be seen in patients with a background of chronic inflammatory disorders. In those with no preexisting systemic disorder, an incidental finding of an amyloid deposit during investigations for urinary tract symptoms should alert the urologist to arrange appropriate referral/investigations. # 2006 European Association of Urology and European Board of Urology. An overview of the role of bacterial infection in male infertility
An important cause of male infertility is the bacterial infections of the genitourinary tract. These infections affect sperm cell function and whole spermatogenesis and also cause deterioration in spermatogenesis, obstruction of the seminal tract, and impairment of spermatozoa function. The most important bacteria associated with genitourinary tract infections include chlamydia trachomatis, Nei...
متن کاملPrimary Localized Amyloidosis of Urinary Bladder: A Case Report and Review of Literature
Amyloidosis is a disorder of protein metabolism characterized by extracellular deposition of abnormal protein fibrils. It may either be localized to any organ or systematically distributed throughout the body. The biochemical nature of proteins varies but the physical and tinctorial properties are shared by all the amyloidogenic proteins. In the West, it is mainly composed of amyloid light (AL)...
متن کاملAmyloidosis of the renal pelvis presenting as flank pain
Amyloidosis is a rare disease defined by accumulation of extracellular amyloid systemically or within a specific organ. Localized amyloidosis of the genitourinary system is extremely rare, with the predominate location being the bladder. The imaging findings are often nonspecific and mimic urothelial carcinoma. We present a 49-year-old woman with a chief complaint of flank pain. A filling defec...

Nowadays, prenatal ultrasonography can detect most malformations and anomalies. In this study the genitourinary tract abnormalities of the Fetuses of the pregnant women by prenatal ultrasonography and causes of these abnormalities were evaluated...
متن کاملMultifocal primary amyloidosis of the airways: Case report and review of the literature
Primary localized amyloidosis of the airways is an uncommon disorder characterized by amyloid deposits in the airway mucosa. In contrast to systemic amyloidosis other organs are not involved. Among the entities of airway amyloidosis, tracheobronchial amyloidosis is comparatively the most common subtype in the lower respiratory tract and laryngeal amyloidosis in the upper respiratory tract. The ...
